General Description of College:
Hereward College is a general further education college located in Coventry, supporting day and residential students with a broad spectrum of complex learning needs. Local non-disabled students also attend the college.
Students access a full range of learning opportunities on and off campus with support. Courses lead to nationally recognised qualifications and range from pre-entry to advanced level.
Development of independence skills is prioritised and learners can develop skills and confidence to become active members of society and manage future challenges.
Success rates are in the top ten percent of colleges nationally.
The Curriculum:
Academic and vocational courses and the transition to independence curriculum make up the college offer and the learner’s individual learning programme. Choices offered on campus are Sports, Performing Arts, Media, Art & Design, Business, Management, Retail, ICT, English, Maths and Skills for Working Life.
A range of independence activities, good opportunities for work experience and enterprise activities and support to develop personal and social skills prepares students for life after college, including employment, higher education and independent living.
