General Description of College:
Westgate College offers a wide range of courses to meet students’ needs and develop work and life skills. Students are supported in achieving employment, a place in a mainstream college and living as independently as possible in supported or independent accommodation. There is input from a wide range of specialists including physio, occupational and speech and language therapists and medical professionals
The Curriculum:
Students study communication, literacy, numeracy and IT as well as a range of vocational courses and life skills. Students are supported to be independent with the development of personal and social skills. The courses, which are accredited, include horticulture, animal care, catering, IT, enterprise and practical skills as well as British Sign Language. Most students, where appropriate, have access to work experience.
Specialist Facilities:
A range of specialists is available for students: physio, occupational, speech and language therapists as well as audiology and medical professionals. Students have access to a swimming pool on site, use of IT throughout the College.
