General Description of College:
Recognised by the DCSF, St. Rose’s Post 16 Department caters for young people with a wide range of physical, learning, sensory and communication difficulties. The starting point is an individual learning plan based on a comprehensive assessment of need.
St. Rose’s has extensive grounds and is located in the heart of Stroud providing easy access to all community and town centre facilities.
The Curriculum:
The adult curriculum for literacy and numeracy is at the heart of our work. The curriculum provides a holistic approach aiming to develop academic potential, personal skills and interests.
Specialist Facilities:
The Post 16 Department is a bridge between school and the appropriate next stage. All our buildings are wheelchair friendly. Our overall aim is to prepare students to face the realities of adult life with confidence, to help them to realise the value of independence and to enable them to achieve that independence.
The school employs a team of experienced therapists, from the following disciplines;
Physiotherapy, Occupational, Speech and Language, Massage, Visual Impairment and Music Therapy. The interdisciplinary team works alongside teaching and residential staff, to encourage students to reach their potential.
