General Description of College:
David Lewis College offers residential and day placements to prepare up to 80 young people with mild-severe learning difficulties as they transition into adulthood.
As part of David Lewis Centre, the College benefits from a level, spacious rural site, with numerous towns nearby and is only 30 minutes from Manchester city centre.
The Curriculum:
A holistic curriculum equips students with the skills to effectively access the wider community. Learners are supported throughout their placement by a holistic curriculum, a comprehensive tutorial system and Individual Learning Plans ensure learners are able to progress at their own pace throughout their programme of study.
Progression is recognised via a wide range of accreditation routes and RARPA. The College has established links with General Further Education providers, which enable learners to access different learning environments and vocational qualifications, with appropriate support.The extended curriculum provides structured independence training and offers a wide range of social, leisure and creative activities.
Specialist Facilities:
Medics, clinicians, psychologists and therapists offer support to our students according to need.
On-site facilities include swimming and hydrotherapy pools, shop, café, garden centre, sports facilities and much space for outdoor activities.
Respite care is available to students during holidays, the amount of which is based on individual need – from a few days to a full 52 week placement.
