General Description of College:
NCYPE Further Education College provides learning for young people aged 16 to 25 with complex epilepsy and other neurological conditions. Day and residential places are offered in a semi-rural setting in Surrey with access to a range of local amenities.
The Curriculum:
The curriculum offers a range of accredited and non-accredited learning opportunities via a programme of educational courses that encompass vocational studies (Creative Arts, Land based Industries - Farm and Horticulture, Design and Technology, Business Administration and ICT), Life skills, Skills for Life, work based learning and transition planning.
NCYPE has strong links with local employers and mainstream colleges where students are able to access additional learning opportunities and work experience placements.
The development of independence and social skills is also actively encouraged and built upon through the 24 hour curriculum, provided via the residential setting and by participation with the wider community.
Specialist Facilities:
On-site Education, Care, Medical and Therapy teams work together with a person centred approach to meet the needs of individual learners, utilising detailed initial assessments and ongoing reviews to support and maximise progress.
