General Description of College:
Coleg Elidyr is a Camphill Community set in 180 acres of farmland in the secluded Towy Valley. The on-site farm, garden, woodlands and shop provide real practical learning opportunities. Our curriculum is based on the philosophy of Rudolf Steiner and designed to enable the learner to move from doing to understanding and from experience to knowing.
The Curriculum:
The Three Year Education Programme – offers development of independence, self-confidence, self-advocacy, vocational and social skills. The development is possible because of an integrated, holistic approach to education in the broadest sense. In the community, students lead an active and social life, living together with peers, care and teaching staff, and young volunteers from all over the world. Each student has an individually tailored timetable with a variety of activities.
The Trainee Programme – is a programme of consolidation and training within a structured environment which:
* Gives the individual time to make learnt skills and habits part of his/her own personal lifestyle for the future
* Helps the individual to take charge of his/her own life
* Enables the individual to be an active partner in the society around him/her
