General Description of College:
Condover College is a small charitable organisation which will provide for 55 young people (September 2011). Residential accommodation is in a number of small houses (3 – 5 residents) in villages and towns in and around Shrewsbury. We have an Education centre in Shrewsbury. Provision is offered for between 38 and 52 weeks per year. After the three year “Design for Living” course we guarantee “open ended” provision up to the age of 65 with a full programme of life enhancing activities. Holidays are provided for 52 wee residential learners. We hold regular “Open Days”.
The Curriculum:
We offer a “Design for Living” course over three years at “Pre-entry level”. The curriculum focuses on developing communication, social and independence skills and enabling our learners to develop a valued, valuing and enjoyable life. Engagement with the local community and using local community facilities (including local mainstream colleges) is central to our provision
Specialist Facilities:
We have arrangements with a local special school to provide hydrotherapy, and “in house” Speech and Language Therapist and Physiotherapy. Most rooms are “en-suite” and ground floor rooms have ceiling tracking.
