General Description of College:
Homefield has developed realistic work based environments in the community including a horticulture enterprise, a High street internet café and sweetshop and has just opened a state of the art internet café/gift shop and retail enterprise in the nearby university town of Loughborough. These provide a wealth of work placements in real environments and include options for different abilities.
The Curriculum:
Where possible programmes are delivered in community settings such as: public transport, restaurants, hairdressers, libraries, leisure centres, Community Centres, and the premises of other providers of education and training. The college has developed strong links with the other local providers, businesses and the local councils. A wide range of external work placements are used to provide good work experience to meets individuals’ interests. The college offers a range of innovative, interesting sessions including media, incorporating Homefield radio and TV, drama, dance, art, music and photography as well as a range of sports based activities. It has its own football team and completes in swimming galas and athletics events. The programme for each student is individualised to reflect their own needs and interests. Students complete accredited courses appropriate to their needs and to meet the requirements of Foundation Learning.
