General Description of College:
MacIntyre Abingdon Partnership College is a specialist day college located in Oxfordshire which provides a person-centred curriculum for young learners who have complex learning difficulties and ASD. The college caters for 20 learners and is operated in partnership with Abingdon & Witney FE College and is co-located on their Abingdon campus.
The Curriculum:
The focus for curriculum planning and delivery is based on communication. Learning activities, facilitated by skilled support practitioners, are practical and vocational and enable learners to develop independence and life skills. Literacy, numeracy and ICT are embedded throughout the curriculum which is delivered in college and the local community. Learners benefit from working in small groups supported by a high staff ratio.
Specialist Facilities:
Our co-location with a general FE college is essential in ensuring learning opportunities that are truly inclusive. By situating the college on the main campus, we have access to the wider resources and broader curriculum of the Abingdon & Witney College. There are also increased opportunities to encourage students to develop skills for independent living - the campus is near the town centre, giving opportunities for more independent travel, as well as access to a wide range of community facilities in the local area.
