General Description of College:
Care Quality Commission Registered. The Minstead Training Project is found in a rural village in the New Forest. Providing transitional life training to people with learning difficulties/disabilities helping them develop and achieve levels of independence appropriate to their abilities. Offering fourteen residential and approximately fifty day places.
The Curriculum:
Transitional practical skills training in:- Life and Social Skills and personal development: For those who live in the Residential house (from 18 years old). Day Opportunities – Development of work skills through practical activities and opportunities for therapeutic/leisure experiences in: Horticulture - Provides a full range of horticulture opportunities. Pottery / Craft / Art / Rural Studies / Woodwork shop / Photo-club / Sewing / textiles / cooking: Giving individuals opportunities to explore their creativity and practical skills. Literacy, Numeracy and Information Technology – Maintain and build upon existing skills and support all areas of practical activity. Work experience – On and offsite work-experience placements including a sheltered work scheme at Furzey Gardens, Minstead Supported Living-Transitional training towards independence in the community.
