General Description of College:
Donated to Rev. Eakin, himself with a son suffering with a physical disability, in 1960 by Thomas Doran, the college continues to support and train individuals with intellectual, physical and / or sensory disabilities.
The Curriculum:
Parkanaur College offers four main, fully certified vocational training areas. These include Business Administration, Catering, Horticulture and Upholstery. All students experience a 12-week sampling period followed by the development of a person centered training and development plan. Training and education takes place in association within our range of micro-businesses, providing students with practical, business focused skills followed by a work placement in one of the local enterprises. Further to the core areas other courses include IT, BSL, Essential Skills. Extra curricular activities include catering, swimming, recreational dance, bowling, photography.
Specialist Facilities:
Parkanaur college is supported by a team of 30 trained and sympathetic careers providing 24 hour individual care. Residential facilities are fully kitted out with hoists, lifts and are fully accessible to wheel-chair users. Students have access to a specially designed, fully fitted kitchen facility. A recreation room, with computers, monitored internet access and snooker facilities and television is also available.
