General Description of College:
Pengwern College is an Independent Specialist College providing education and care for students aged 16 to 25 with moderate to severe learning disabilities. The College is situated in a rural environment, in Rhuddlan, North Wales. We offer both day and residential placements. We pride ourselves on our commitment to providing high quality education. The College help students gain the skills and confidence they need to move onto the next stage of their lives; whether that is gaining employment, moving towards independent living or progressing onto further study.
The Curriculum:
Pengwern College aims to offer a broad curriculum based on the Foundation Learning areas of: Vocational Studies, Personal & Social Development and Functional Skills. Vocational learning is supported by internal and external work experience placements which will further build the student’s skills in preparation for independence. The structure of the Foundation Learning curriculum enables the college to deliver personalised learning and transition programmes tailored to meet the abilities and needs of the learner. The curriculum is accredited through a range for qualifications relevant to the learners ongoing transition needs and supports their progress.
