General Description of College:
The QEF Brain Injury Centre is located in Banstead, Surrey and is part of the Queen Elizabeth’s Foundation, a registered charity. The Centre offers residential and day specialist provision for young people aged 16-35 years, with acquired brain injury following accident, injury or a serious illness. Students follow an integrated neuro-rehabilitation and education programme to facilitate a return to further or higher education studies, more independent living and community reintegration wherever possible.
The Curriculum:
The wide ranging Curriculum includes: OCR Basic, Key & Functional Skills in ICT, Literacy and Numeracy Sports Leadership Awards, Mini Enterprise and Budgeting CLait Computing and OCR Bookkeeping qualifications Music, Multi-media and Radio Communication Technology Vocational studies and work experience where appropriate Art, Design and Technology (including woodworking, pottery and digital photography) Independent Living Skills such as Meal Preparation and Planning and Mobility.
Specialist Facilities:
“Carpenters” education building houses a multi-media room, working radio station, and music room. A range of assistive and adaptive technologies are available to enable curriculum access for all students. The Centre also offers an outdoor sports area, a well–equipped gym, art and design workshops and a variety of transitional accommodation.
