General Description of College:
St Elizabeth’s College offers young people, aged 18-25 with a range of special needs including epilepsy, the opportunity to develop the skills needed to move towards adulthood, long term supported independent living and a more fulfilled lifestyle. The College brings together learning, housing, care and health into a holistic programme and a lifestyle experience which mirrors that to which the learners might aspire. 37 Students are tenants of Housing Associations in Much Hadham or Bishops Stortford with rights and responsibilities as tenants at the heart of their learning. We now offer a non-residential Vocational Day Programme individualised for each learner.
The Curriculum:
The innovatory nature of the transition programmes at the College is fully reflected in the style of the curriculum and its delivery. Living and learning are seamless and learners ‘learn by doing’. The learning is based on real situations in their everyday lives such as shopping, meal preparation, home management and sports and leisure structured to develop independence skills. The College provides an extensive vocational programme including social enterprises and external work placements. Learning is accredited at Entry Level 1, 2 and 3 through OCR Life and Living Skills.
