General Description of College:
The College is situated in an urban environment close to Stoke on Trent, maximising the opportunities to use community and realistic work settings to promote learning. It provides full and part-time, 38 and 52 week placements for up to 48 learners on a residential or day basis. Courses can start throughout the year.
The Curriculum:
Programmes focus on developing independent living, social and vocational skills and are linked to external accreditation. Learners have the opportunity to participate in meaningful work experience/placement schemes and can take part in many social, sporting and leisure activities within the community. All programmes are matched to learners’ individual needs and ensure appropriate levels of support. Learners are supported by specialist services to ensure that they are able to understand their needs and develop strategies to cope. All learners are encouraged to make choices and decisions and to negotiate within their programmes, using appropriate communication strategies. We also support learners with transition planning to ensure that they move on to appropriate provision when they leave Strathmore College.
Specialist Facilities:
Craegmoor’s Strathmore College offers individualised programmes for learners aged 16-25 with mild to severe learning difficulties or disabilities, challenging behaviour and complex needs, including autism/ASC.
