Natspec - the Association of National Specialist Colleges

The Enhancement of Learning Support

The final reports from the Enhancement of Learning Support Project have now been completed, and are available through the links below.

The response from colleges was very positive, and the project team would like to thank all those who contributed, in particular the 176 people who were interviewed, the 512 who completed the online questionnaire and the 54 learners who took part in focus groups. It has benefited the project significantly to hear the voice of practitioners so strongly, and this is reflected in the reports.

The reports provide a detailed overview of the role of learning support assistants in the lifelong learning sector, and include a set of recommendations for development and improvement. The project  has illustrated that the role of LSAs  is vital in maintaining and developing an inclusive sector, that their needs and impact have until now been significantly under researched, and that better access to information, together with improved training and development  opportunities, are needed to enhance their role further.

Finally, Natspec is pleased to have had the opportunity to undertake this work through LSIS Flexibility and Innovation Funding, and would like to thank the hard working project team and the steering group for their contributions.
