- Hereward College
- Principal & Chief Executive
- Competitive Salary
Hereward College is a General Further Education college that offers inclusive provision and specialist facilities for day and residential learners with complex disabilities and learning difficulties. We provide full-time learning programmes at pre-entry level to level 3 for 274 college based learners, 10 outreach learners and 95 work based learners through our Hereward Training activity.
With a vision of preparing learners for the next stage of their lives, providing them with outstanding employability skills and greater control over their future, we have a track record of promoting individual achievement since 1971.
In October 2016, the College was judged to be Inadequate, with Ofsted highlighting specific concerns relating to safeguarding, outcomes for learners and teaching and learning assessment.
Our Principal is retiring, we have strengthened the Safeguarding team and a review of the College has been undertaken by the FE Commissioner’s office. With an interim Principal now in place, we are currently working hard to address the issues raised by Ofsted and are in the process of developing a positive vision for our future.
Our Corporation is now looking to appoint a permanent Principal to continue the focus on immediate improvements in safeguarding, teaching and learning and student outcomes and to provide the college with the direction, leadership and strategic management it requires. Other key priorities are the formulation of a strategic plan to address changes in high needs funding, the curriculum and estates, and the development, alongside the Corporation, of a new long term strategy for the College.
Hereward welcomes applications from experienced senior leaders from the general and special further education sectors as well as leaders from other post-16 and post-19 special education provision. We are looking for a Principal who has the experience to navigate us through our current difficulties and build the foundations for our future success. If you are ambitious, keen to make an impact and are attracted to a position that offers challenge and reward in equal measure, this is a fantastic opportunity to maximise chances for a vulnerable group of students and equip them to lead fulfilling and independent lives.
